Western Iowa Tech Community College will be holding a ribbon cutting with the Chamber of Commerce on Thursday, September 7 at 10:00 a.m. in the main entrance (Parking lot 1, entrance 1). The ribbon cutting is in celebration of the College’s new logo, as well the new admissions area, bookstore, and esports arena.

Western Iowa Tech will have its new logo on display at the event. The College spent the last two years conducting market research and developing its new logo. “This new logo demonstrates the connection and support the faculty show our students,” says Dr. Terry Murrell, President of Western Iowa Tech. “It embodies our professional yet welcoming persona and shows how Western Iowa Tech elevates students to reach their fullest potential.”

The event will also provide an opportunity for the community to see renovations to the front entrance of the Dr. Robert E. Kiser building, the main building of the Sioux City campus. In 2021 Western Iowa Tech remodeled the Admissions, Student Services, Student Financial Services, and the entryway of Sioux City’s main to create a welcoming space. The remodel included adding an open concept layout, high ceilings, natural light, and new finishes. The result is a more inviting, energetic, welcoming space for students.

An esports arena was constructed in spring 2023 when the college announced it will be adding esports to its roster of athletics. The arena is utilized for daily practices and competitions four times a week. Currently 23 students participate on the team.

Earlier this summer, the bookstore was relocated to the front of the Dr. Robert E. Kiser building. The new location results in higher foot traffic, allowing visitors and students the ability to purchase athletics and college merchandise.
