SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) — Western Iowa Tech Community College hosted its annual music festival “Witstock” Friday night.

The 13th annual event was run by the mass communications department and student activities at Western Iowa Tech. Engineering students worked with the video and audio.

Mass Communications Coordinator Chris Mansfield said that the event has turned into a student affair.

“Kids started literally putting stuff together and building stuff in January and started to learn in a class called Live Sound Production, and started to learn how this all works,” Mansfield said. “Then on the video side of things, we do a show every week, so they’re not unfamiliar with it.”

President of the Audio-Visual Club Chase Foix was MC for the event, and he said he was thankful for the opportunity.

“This is something I’ve always wanted to do, and being able to actually do it, and this has helped me grow into a bigger person, and I really don’t know what else to say,” Foix said. “I really thank my teachers for it, they really helped me out through this and I really owe it to them. And I think it really shows… that students can really achieve something that they put their mind to it.”

The participating bands were TJ Figh, Fair to Compare, and Above The Covers. The festival was free, and there was a raffle and games to go along with the live music.
